This shows a jig I made so that I can use my router on the Lathe.
It is fully adjustable, up and down for any diameter of wood.
The central part on top of the jig is also rotatable, so with a 90 degree router bit you can cut slots into your wood blank so you can infill with different types of wood and create your own patterns.
This is a lot easier than using segmenting.
You do need to have some form of indexing indexed to the router.
This shows the routed blank awaiting the joints to be cleaned up. i.e. removing the splinters off of the ends.
Here you can see the first Purpleheart inserts. They are glued and held in place with rubber bands.
This shows one side done after the glue is dry and the rubber bands removed.
Here you can see the other side of the Purpleheart inserts being glued in.
The Pal Amero is now glued and held in place.
The pieces are all now glued and ready to turn.
The outside is now half turned and you can see how the pattern is developing.
